The maniacal, semi-lucid ramblings of a group of people who could probably be doing something more constructive with their time...but don't.

Adult Summer Reading madness at KPL

A recent favorite task of mine here at work was emptying the entry boxes for our Adult Summer Reading Program. For each book an adult has read they can fill out a form to enter to win one of five baskets.

The first time I emptied them there was a priceless entry that I think I am going to frame!

Book Title: The Wrong Hostage
Author: Not Sure
Book Description: Blue with shatter glass look

Wow. That was quite literal. Unfortunately we were going after a summary of the book not what the dust cover looked like! It’s our fault for using the phrase “book description”. I guess I can understand how it could be confusing.

Other favorites included:

Book Title: Poker Night
Author: James McManus
Book Description: I could read all night after playing poker

Sadly, Mr. McManus’ book was included in the basket as part of the prize. The book was sitting right there in front of the entry box. The book is actually called Positively Fifth Street. Sorry. Try again.

This yahoo apparently had a partner in crime:

Book Title: Poker Night
Author: James McManus
Book Description: make you want to have a poker party

See above.

Book Title: Positively Fifth Street
Book Author: James McMurray
Book Description: It was a wonderful book I suggest readers between the age of 21-30 to pick up this wonderful book and read. I promise you will love this book

Hmmmm, I was 31 when I read this book and I did love it despite the age range given. However, the author of the book that I read was James McManus so maybe it was a different book.

The next one:

Book Title: The Runaway Pants
Author: ?
Book Description: Good book for teenage girls. I just thank you for the magic of book reading.

Your welcome.

Next:

Book Title: Kankakee Cultural Basket
Book Author: Symphony Basket
Book Description: Sounds like a night filled with dreams

Wow! What a coincidence! I came up with the original name of Kankakee Cultural Basket for one of our five baskets and there is a book by the same name! That Symphony Basket is a beautiful author.

Book Title: Kankakee Cultural Basket
Book Author: Symphony Basket
Book Description: Reads like a magical experience

Magical indeed. It should really come as no surprise to me that the two goofballs who wrote the drivel for the Cultural Basket are the same duo who filled out the poker ones.

Sigh.
